We wish to take this opportunity to pay tribute to a very special lady who sadly lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in January.
After meeting a representative of The Elizabeth Coteman Fund, Shirley Beardsmore, from Barton Mills, began raising money for the Fund. Despite having a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, she worked tirelessly and encouraged others to give their support. Initially, £50 was donated by Barton Mills & District Gardening Club and then a further £150 was donated by Shirley herself. But on 17 November a Musical Evening was organised by the Beardsmore family to raise awareness and funds in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
The event featured Emma Beardsmore, who led a talented group of entertainers in the church in Barton Mills. Support from local villagers was fantastic and £1150 was raised on the night.
Friends of the Beardsmore family, Mr and Mrs Bennett, raised £400 for the Fund, when a painting was auctioned at Mrs Bennett’s flower club.
We pay the highest of tributes to Shirley and send every good wish to the Beardsmore family.
